  1. If you like seafood, Maryland is the hub for blue crabs, soft clams, old bay seasoning, and Chesapeake bay seasoning!

  2. Almost half of the land surface of Maryland is covered by forest, which includes forty-seven state parks.

  3. Maryland is known as the "mini America" as it has almost every type of terrain, landscape, more animal and bird species than any other state.

  4. Maryland has 48 people that are the years of 114 and older.

  5. The Baltimore Ravens are named after Edgar Allen Poe's famous poem, The Raven.

  6. Jousting has been the official sport of Maryland since 1962.

  7. The movies Runaway Bride and Tuck Everlasting were both filmed in Berlin, Maryland.

  8. Maryland was the first state to start Worker's Compensation in 1902.

  9. The US Naval Academy was founded in Annapolis, MD, which is also the sailing capital of the world.

  10. The American Flag has flown continuously over the Francis Scott Key birthplace in Keymar since 1849.
