We are almost half-way through our State Flower Designs! Can you believe it?! We have loved this journey! Seeing the projects you make, and sharing them on our Floriani Embroidery Group, receiving your emails with stories about how this has inspired you to quilt, and more! Fun Facts about Minnesota:

  1. The name Minnesota derives from the Sioux words “minni” meaning water and “sotah” meaning sky-tinted or cloudy.

  2. Minnesota is nicknamed “The Land of 10,000 Lakes,” but it actually has over 11,842 lakes of 10 acres or more.

  3. The Metrodome in Minneapolis is the only stadium in the country to host a World Series, a Super Bowl, and an NCAA Final Four Basketball Championship.

  4. Minnesota inventions include water skis, the stapler, Scotch tape, Wheaties cereal, the automatic pop-up toaster, rollerblades, and Snickers.

  5. The first open heart surgery and the first bone marrow transplant in the U.S. were performed at the University of Minnesota.
